When Fulham used the Al-Fayed money to become a Premier League team, the old Craven Cottage didn't grow in the same way the team on the pitch did. So after a short time, the ground did not meet the requirements anymore. As a result, the club decided to share the ground with QPR and while playing at Loftus Road, to redevelop Craven Cottage. This was definately the right thing to do. Today Fulham has its own unique stadium.
Craven Cottage is unique in many ways. It's unique because auf the unusual name and the fact that there is actually a cottage in the corner of the Main Stand and the Putney End. It's unique because of its location in the posh neighborhood of Fulham, right next to a park and on the banks of River Themse. It's unique because of the beautiful facade of the Main Stand on Stevenage Road and the classic English turnstiles. It's unique because of the characteristic roof of the Main Stand with a canopy that displays the club logo and name. And it's unique because Fulham actually doesn't have enough fans to fill the ground on a regular basis, so it's extremely convenient to get tickets.
If you get the chance, visit the ground. Fulham fans aren't as vocal as the fans of the other Premier League teams in London, so don't expect too much from the home fans but the ground will definately make up for it! |
