Try to find a stadium in the world in which you're sitting closer to the pitch - I bet you won't find one. When you sit in the first row of Ellerslie Road Stand, you can literally touch the sideline. It's teh compact architecture that makes Loftus Road so special. Despite the small capacity (19.000), three of the four stands have two tiers. that pretty much sums it up. You'Re right in the middle of the match, wherever you sit.
The ground has seen Premier League football not too long ago and it was also home to Fulham FC during the redevelopment of Craven Cottage. So the big number of matches hasn't left the stadium in the best condition. The facilities are a little run down. Yet it is pretty much what a fan of English football would call a perfect sub 20.000 capacity ground: Compact as described and in the middle of a residential area.
Even if Loftus Road doesn't feature the same standard as newer grounds, it's definately worth a visit. |
